Athletics: Lyn, Rankin finish top half of 100m field at YOG

Mustang Track Club’s Danneika Lyn and Gary Rankin will depart Buenos Aires with respectable placings in 100-meter field at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

Lyn, 16, placed 6th overall in Heat 5 of Friday’s (12 October) 100-meter women’s field with a time of 13.15s. She followed that Monday with a first place finish in 12.71s. The Carifta medalist would finish 26th overall in a field of 42 athletes.

Rankin, 17, placed 5th overall in Heat 2 of Friday’s 100-meter field clocking in at 11.33s. He followed that Monday with a personal best of 10.83s, good for seventh overall and 22nd among 38 athletes.

Both sprinters were given a second race in a second stage to create a combined overall score in a new qualification rule.
