Sailing: Clean sweep for Cayman at Bahamas Optimist Nationals

The Cayman Islands Sailing Club (CISC) optimists dominated the waters this past weekend at the 2018 Bahamas National Optimist Sailing Championships held 12-13 October at the Harbour Island Sailing Club.

13-year old Matheo Capasso repeated as Bahamas National Optimist champion topping the Red Fleet, while 12-year old Jaspar Nielsen topped the Blue Fleet, with 10-year old Ciara Murphy winning Green Fleet in her first regatta abroad.

Cayman excelled in the overall standings with Nielsen (2nd overall) Charlie Hunn (4th overall) and Xavier Marshall (11th overall) all finishing in the top fifteen among 41 sailors.

Also sailing in her first international regatta was 10-year old Allie Capasso who placed second behind Murphy in the Green Fleet.
