No new garbage trucks for DEH, Seymour says management was the problem

Health Minister Hon. Dwayne Seymour pulls the plug on plans to buy new garbage trucks for the Department of Environmental Health.
Mr. Seymour told legislators on Thursday (22 November) night that following the investigation into overtime costs at the DEH he found out there was no need for new trucks.

He is the seven truck complement that is needed to effectively carry out collections is in place.

He said he was also told that new trucks were ordered, but it was later discovered that no order had been placed for the equipment.

“We have a major problem at that department and the last thing you want to be doing is throwing … and I am walking carefully… to be buying garbage trucks when the trucks are not the problem,” said Minister Seymour.
Roughly a year ago Mr. Seymour said government planned to buy more trucks to address ongoing issues with garbage collection.
