Rajun’ Cajuns bringing the up-tempo offense to Cayman Classic

University of Louisiana-Lafayette Head Coach Bob Marlin says the Rajun’ Cajuns will be a team to watch at the Cayman Classic.

“Our team is versatile, we have good guard play, we have some size, and we got some experience. We lead our conference in scoring for the last five years in a row, and we get up and down the floor at a fast pace. Hopefully we can play some entertaining basketball for the people in Cayman.”

Marlin says the opportunity to compete outside the Sun Belt Conference was a great opportunity.

“There are teams with really good RPI’s (Rating Percentage Index) and it’s an excellent opportunity to get better and to get ready for our conference tournament.”

Marlin adds his squad is no stranger to playing abroad, recently competing in a unique international friendly just a few months ago.

“We actually played in Cuba this summer, playing the Cuban men’s national team in August. We were only the second team to go into Cuba. It was a great experience.”

Louisiana-Lafayette, who plays in the Sun Belt Conference,  will take the court in the tournament’s opening game versus the University of Iowa Monday 20th November at 12:00 pm at the John Gray High School Gymnasium.
